Job Summary


The Project Leader in SABIC Automotive Technology is the technical focal point to contribute to the Smart Panels and Lighting automotive business growth in the Americas. S/he will work closely with key TIERs, OEMs, value chain partners and internal stakeholders to identify new Smart Panel and Lighting trends, and lead innovation projects for new applications and new thermoplastic materials.


How You Can Be the Impact

(Job Responsibilities)


  • Drive innovation projects for new application spaces and new thermoplastic materials for the Smart Panel and Lighting (SPL) segment for the Americas region.

  • Lead project teams, and work together closely with Auto commercial and marketing counterparts, technology teams and external partners including universities to execute these projects within agreed timelines.

  • Identify trends for SPL and determine future market needs through close cooperation and partnerships with key automotive TIERs, OEMs, value chain members, in the Americas region.

  • Collaborate with global SPL team peers to translate new technology developments and solutions to and from the Americas region.

  • Work closely with marketing counterparts and product-line technology teams on competitive landscape assessments and product strategies to meet new needs.

  • Set direction for the applications development team in Wixom, MI and other centers to build competencies to support SPL technology roadmaps and strategic goals. 

  • Understand Intellectual property implications, drive ideations and Invention disclosures and facilitate Multi-party NDA. JDA etc. 


What Matters to SABIC

(Job Requirements)


  • Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical, Polymer or Chemical Engineering.

  • Minimum 8 years working experience in the Automotive Lighting industry ideally in product development.

  • Strong project management and communication skills. Good team player who can perform in a matrix organization.

  • Strong technical expertise in Lighting applications and respective optical principles and material properties related to optical performance.

  • Technical understanding on Engineering Thermoplastic materials (PC, PC/ABS) resins and injection molding processing, and application technologies such as coating, painting, metallization, welding and joining processes.

  • Flexibility to travel mainly within the USA (20%). 


Physical Requirements: Able to work in an office and lab environment and travel to SABIC and customer sites for meetings and molding trials.
