Job Summary

Primary purpose of the job would be to support new developments in plastic resins and in injection molding for automotive applications.  The technician is responsible for advanced injection molding machinery operation from start of drying material through the generation of both parts and data for innovation projects. The job is to stay current on and expand the site knowledge of plastic molding processing advancements in areas such as new resins, trialing new molds, and investigating new molding technologies to innovate in an Application Technology (AT), Technology and Innovation team. Additionally, the job is to resolve customer concerns through molding with a variety of resin materials as part of an expanding Wixom, MI Auto Center of Excellence.

 

How You Can Be the Impact

  • Runs a variety of new and existing plastic resin types.
  • Executes part molding by determining optimum machine settings and process parameters.
  • Performs advanced machine troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Implements and advances LOTO, corporate safety systems, and regulatory EHSS requirements.
  • Provides accurate and timely data in spreadsheets, technical PowerPoints and summaries.
  • Communicates verbally, in writing, and virtually.
  • Utilizes problem solving and analytical skills to resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Cross-trains to operate secondary operations equipment and testing as required.

 

What Matters to SABIC

10+ years Injection Molding experience (education/experience combination accepted) to include:

  • Automated molding using state of the art machines and program controls (Engel experience a plus)
  • Robotic part retrieval capability
  • Capable of independent planning and execution of projects and daily assignments
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and functions
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and demonstrated ability to follow them
  • Molding Trial shop or R&D experience preferred
  • Up to 10% travel

 

Communication and organization skills to include:

  • Curious and excited to learn new molding technology
  • Proficient use of personal computers with Microsoft Office tools
  • Strong Interpersonal and Teamwork skills
  • Strong Problem Solving and Mechanical Troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrated organizational, planning and record keeping skills
  • Project management background preferred

 

Physical Requirements

Physical requirements consist of standing for 6-8 hours at a time, lifting up to 50 lbs, and climbing stairs.
