JOB SUMMARY

Primary purpose would be to develop & demonstrate new and innovative technologies for injection molding of automotive plastic parts with the latest in molding equipment and tooling. Application Technology (AT) Technicians utilize state-of-the-art machines and new tools and systems to resolve customer concerns in molding with SABIC materials, develop molding techniques and innovate around new customer challenges. The Wixom AT facility is focused on automotive customers in this expanding Auto Center of Excellence.

 

Job Purpose & Responsibilities

  • Executes quality part molding
  • Determines operational settings to run a variety of new and existing plastic resins Establishes process parameters settings to run a variety of new and existing plastic resin types: PC, ABS, blends of PC/ABS, PBT and blends, PP compounds, and glass-filled products
  • Develops new and innovative molding procedures using latest available technologies such as 2K molding, 3K molding, ICM molding, Composite molding (plastic carbon fiber composites).
  • Performs advanced machine troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Supports implementation and modification of new technology upgrades to the injection molding machine
  • Provides inputs to tooling development Launches new tools to include; initial tool set up of tooling functions, slides and cores, establish process parameters, new tool debugging skills, and tool maintenance knowledge
  • Develops technical knowledge in automotive plastic manufacturing standards
  • Follows LOTO, corporate safety systems, and regulatory EHSS requirements
  • Provides accurate and timely technical results, recommendations and summaries on injection molding trials to requestors
  • Communicates with verbally, in writing, and virtually with requestors and internal stakeholders
  • Mentors and coaches less experienced team members
  • Manages projects and timelines effectively
  • Utilizes problem solving and analytical skills to resolve issues quickly and efficiently
  • Executes quality part molding

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years Injection Molding Fundamentals: (Education, Certifications or Experience combination)
  • Automated molding using state of the art machines and program controls (Engel experience a plus)

  • Kistler or RJG measurement system and sensors, Automated controllers & Robotic programming part retrieval

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and functions
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and demonstrated ability to follow them
  • Automotive experience preferred
  • Communication and organization skills to include: Proficient use of personal computers with Microsoft Office tools
  • Strong Interpersonal and Teamwork skills
  • Strong Problem Solving and Troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrated organizational, planning and record keeping skills
  • Self-motivated execution of tasks and report out
  • Curious and excited to learn new molding technology
