SABIC UK Petrochemicals Limited has its headquarters based within the Wilton Centre, but has manufacturing and storage facilities located over two nearby sites, at Wilton International and North Tees.

 

The Wilton International site hosts our two main manufacturing plants: Olefins 6, a large scale ethylene ‘cracker’, and System 18, one of the world’s largest Low-Density Polyethylene plants. We manufacture chemicals and products such as ethylene and LDPE, the building blocks for the many everyday materials and plastics that we have come to rely on in our modern world.

JOB PURPOSE & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

As a key member of the Maintenance team, the purpose of the Area Maintenance Engineer (AME) role is to manage the timely and cost effective specification, planning, scheduling and oversight of the delivery of maintenance tasks within their area, in accordance with operational needs, the required engineering standards and SABIC’s Manufacturing Excellence Management Standards (MEMS). This role has a specific regulatory and procedural compliance responsibility that is key to the safe ongoing operation of the assets in the area.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the application of engineering standards and policies primarily within Olefins 6 plant area,  fulfilling the requirements of MEMS.06.04 Asset Maintenance work process.
  • Manage delivery of area maintenance engineering requirements in line with business and regulatory needs.
  • Manage the specification, planning, scheduling and delivery of all maintenance work in order to provide cost effective safety, integrity, reliability and production assurance.
  • Responsible for the regulatory and procedural compliance for the area.
  • Responsible for the delivery of the maintenance budget in line with the Olefins 6 Maintenance Managers direction.
  • Due to the nature of the role, the Area Maintenance Engineer will take a number of delegated responsibilities from the Olefins 6 Maintenance Manager.

 Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ability to influence wider stakeholders across the Operational and Technical Functions.
  • Ability to promote local and global corporate values
  • Be the custodian of engineering standards, both international and internal.
  • Ability to interact with external regulators, to protect SABIC legislative interests and license to operate.

 MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor and/or Master’s Degree or Equivalent in Science, Engineering or Maintenance with a broad scope of technical knowledge in chemistry and petrochemical technology
  • Incorporated or Chartered Engineer with an Appropriate Professional Engineering Institution
  • Minimum 4 – 6 years relevant Petrochemicals experience in Engineering or Maintenance
  • Excellent Conceptual, Communication and Analytical Skills
  • Fluency (both written and Oral) in English
  • In depth knowledge of interconnecting Business Units and Functions across Industry
  • Excellent presentation and network skills
  • Proficiency in IT/various connecting IT systems such as Microsoft Office, SAP (CMMS), reporting, etc
  • Experience with working in multi-cultural and diverse environment and influencing and engaging at senior management level

All Engineering disciplines will be considered but SABIC are interested in candidate(s) with a Mechanical, Electrical and/or Instrument background.

Travel: 25% (regionally and globally)
