Job Title:         Assistant Engineer, Area Maintenance I (& E)

Grade:             Hay 32

Location:         North Tees (Logistics North)

 

Job Purpose:

 To provide detailed engineering and equipment reliability input and to support the planning / specification of maintenance work, in accordance with engineering standards and SABIC Operational Management Standards (OMS) workflow processes.  The job role is supporting instrument and electrical aspects of maintenance however, it is preferred for the candidate to have an instrument background. 

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of activities, including but not limited to:

  • Provide engineering expertise, diagnose equipment malfunction and identify appropriate actions, in order that EHS & Production risks are effectively mitigated.
  • Develop a good understanding of the plant Instrument and Electrical compliance program and workload, work with the Instrument and Electrical Technical Engineering team to optimize content and frequencies where appropriate.
  • Support the Engineer, Maintenance with Compliance management, including driving compliance work completion and recognising and developing postponement justification (Risk Assessment and case document) to protect compliance position.
  • Support the identification and optimization of maintenance interventions and ensure that sufficient time is available for planning and resourcing of work.
  • Provide detailed engineering scope and specification including supporting documentation, in order to allow the work delivery teams to provide competent cost effective delivery of the work. 
  • Identify and quantify priority activities to support L1 and L2 delivery teams
  • First line support to L1 and L2 delivery teams with respects to Technical query and fault diagnosis
  • Collate and analyze equipment reliability and maintenance expenditure data in order to help identify and deliver maintenance improvement opportunities.
  • Practitioner in SABIC CMMS (SAP) and other electronic database systems.
  • Support Ordinary Maintenance Revenue (ORM) budget control, by providing robust governance in line with Plant Maintenance Order release.

 

Skills & Knowledge:

 The successful candidate will possess or be willing to obtain the following attributes:

  • Demonstrate a proactive attitude to work and an ability to learn and share technical knowledge – Good communication skills and emotional maturity
  • The role will involve the use of SAP, DRS, trip testing management programme and other computer based systems and therefore a good level of IT literacy is required.
  • The successful applicant will have a broad background in Instrument and/or Electrical maintenance activities, some experience in engineering design and application of IE standards, with 2-5years prior experience working on COMAH-registered plants, possibly as a Technician or First Line Manager
  • Able to demonstrate sound decision-making
  • Excellent communication, coaching and influencing skills, as many of the job accountabilities are achieved through the influencing of others.
  • Able to demonstrate a high concern for relevant standards.
  • Have a ‘Can Do’ attitude
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to identify and lead improvement projects and processes
  • Full UK Driving License
  • Shall hold a minimum of HNC in an Instrument (or Electrical) discipline or equivalent qualification. Extensive experience in a similar role may be considered.
  • Will be or is willing to work towards - incorporated status within an accredited Academic Institute.
  • A sound understanding of preventative maintenance methodologies and processes is beneficial
