Job Summary

 

The Laboratory Technician is responsible for conducting routine quality testing and reporting for the process units.  This position will be filled by the most qualified candidate based on skills and knowledge.

 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

    • Responsible for awareness and execution of handling, storage, disposal, and shipping of HAZMAT/Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) materials while meeting all environmental compliance regulations. 
    • Ensure the adherence of all lab policies and procedures (i.e., samples/containers received in lab are labeled per SOP); assist, conduct, and evaluate on-the-job training for Lab Technicians. 
    • Interpret validity of results and provide accurate results to operations units in a timely manner.
    • Participate in routine testing and multi-area special testing such as Resin reactor, Brine membrane studies, and Brine scrubber tests. 
    • Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance and calibrations on lab equipment and input necessary for work order requests.
    • Ensure shift coverage for vacation, illnesses, training, etc. for other Lab Technicians. 
    • Participate in Gage R & R/Validation Studies.
    • Monitor lab instrumentation performance; recognizing the need to make adjustments based on SPC data.
    • Complete the data entry into Lab Data systems (including SAP).
    • Receive, inspect, and stock lab supplies and chemicals. 
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

 

    • High school diploma or GED equivalent required. 
    • High school OR college level courses in Chemistry and Algebra required; submit high school or college level transcripts with job application/resume . 
    • Chemistry Degree preferred. 
    • Three (3) years relevant manufacturing experience required; lab experience preferred (Quality Assurance or Operator Lab) including performing routine, standardized, analytical tests, and lab procedures.
    • Computer skills to include Microsoft Windows based software packages (i.e., Word, Excel, Data Systems, and other instrument software).  
    • Must have experience in troubleshooting and repairing lab equipment or the ability to acquire the skills. 
    • Must have working knowledge of ISO, Safety Health Environmental Management Standard, and RC14001.

 

 

Physical Requirements

 

    • Capable of performing sustained physical activities including but not limited to walking, climbing ladders, stairs, standing, squatting, kneeling, pushing/pulling, and ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
    • Must be able to comply with all safety policies/practices including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hardhat, safety glasses, safety goggles, steel toe shoes, hearing protection, face shield, respirator, gloves, fire rated clothing, etc.    
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision and function as part of a team.
    • Respirator fit and medical approval required prior to placement.

Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of this position. Applicants must be regularly available and willing to work during assigned hours of operation and such other hours as the company determines are necessary or desirable to meet business needs.
