Job Summary

The Maintenance Instrument Electrician (Journeyman) is responsible for the electrical maintenance of manufacturing equipment and support systems within assigned areas. Candidates must safely and effectively troubleshoot and repair designated equipment. The position requires ability to organize and plan your work.  An Instrument Electrician will be graded on their ability to effectively manage the time it takes to complete a task. A good history and feedback loop on work performed is necessary for the maintenance organization to grow and get better so a technician must be detail oriented and determined to complete this task daily.

  • Has knowledge and can correctly complete all safety permitting necessary to perform tasks.
  • Service, repair, calibrate and test various electronic instrumentation and devices. 
  • Ability to diagnose malfunctions using Test Equipment or Software. 
  • Ability to repair equipment that is primarily electrical in nature. 
  • Good knowledge of various tools that are utilized to test instrumentation.
  • Can read and assess blueprints, schematics and equipment manuals.
  • Plan to continuously learn on the job and in the classroom as technology changes.
  • Ability to prioritize information used to troubleshoot problems in your area.

 

What Matters to SABIC

  • 5+ years of experience in an applicable electrical or instrument tech role OR
  • Certified Journeyman as an Electrician or Instrument Tech with 3+ years of experience in an applicable electrical or instrument tech role OR
  • NCCER Electrical Certification (Level 4) with a minimum of 3 years experience in an applicable electrical or instrument tech role OR
  • Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance concentrating on electrical, instrumentation or controls systems.
  • Must have the ability and willingness to work overtime and take call-ins as needed, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Demonstrated level of proficiency in Work Key Electricians Test Battery 

 

Physical Requirements: Candidates must be able to perform the essential physical requirements of the position such as ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climbing and working at heights.
