JOB PURPOSE

The Senior Maintenance Technician (Mechanical) is responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and operational integrity of manufacturing and utility assets through the effective execution of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies. This role is accountable for minimizing equipment downtime, enhancing asset performance, and supporting safe, efficient, and costeffective plant operations in compliance with company EHSS standards and regulatory requirements.

 

Working closely with Production, Engineering, and EHSS teams, the Senior Maintenance Technician (Mechanical) will ensure equipment operates at optimum performance while supporting plant expansion, equipment modifications, commissioning activities, and operational excellence programs. The role also involves promoting maintenance best practices, developing technical competencies, and contributing to workforce capability development within the maintenance team.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITES

  • Support Mechanical and/or Electrical Team in repair work, plant shutdown, turnaround and major maintenance activities.
  • Carry out troubleshooting, repair and overhaul of mechanical equipment to minimize the production downtime.
  • Perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance activities on production and utility equipment.
  • Execute scheduled maintenance activities according to maintenance plan and work orders.
  • Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis and ensure follow-up actions are completed to prevent recurrence of breakdowns
  • Maintain accurate maintenance record and work order documentations.
  • Involve in improvement projects implementation and liaise with vendors/contractors on scope of work
  • Support continuous improvement project to improve equipment reliability, productivity, quality and cost performance.
  • Conduct on-the-job training for new technicians and complete all required certification forms as and when required by the company
  • Monitor and manage critical spare parts and equipment spare parts inventory.
  • Work closely with Production, Engineering, and EHS team to support plant operations.
  • Prepare and update maintenance SOP, SRA, troubleshooting guide and other training materials when needed.
  • Participate actively in EHSS activities (E.g. H&S Training, Concern Reporting, Safety Risk Assessment (SRA) Review, correction of EHS hazards and unsafe conditions)
  • Maintain housekeeping in work area and ensure compliance of site safety regulations to prevent accidents.
  • Ensure compliance of company EHS & Security policies & local EHS Legislations.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum NITEC/ Technical certificate in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years relevant hands-on maintenance experience in chemical, polymer compounding or manufacturing industries.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and maintenance of rotating and process equipment in a continuous manufacturing environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of  Pumps, Gearbox and motors / Pneumatic conveying system / Vacuum system / Rotary valves / Hydraulic and pneumatic systems / Dust collector system / Cooling water system
  • Able to read and interpret Mechanical Drawings/Diagrams / P&ID Drawings / Equipment Manuals / Technical Specifications
  • Knowledge and experience on extruders as well as packaging and pelletizing equipment will be an added advantage
  • Basic understanding of PLC, SCADA and industrial control systems for troubleshooting support will be an added advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Good communication skill and interpersonal skill
  • Willing to work rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays
