JOB PURPOSE:

To drive market development and technical support for polyolefines (polyethylene & polypropene & its compounds) in assigned region/territory and markets/segments aiming to achieve SABIC Polymers 2030 ambition and maximize business profit (EBITDA) by developing opportunities to grow differentiated/high-added-value (HAV) product sales, offering innovative & value based solutions through not only enabling volume growth at existing/new customers but also global product portfolio management through collaboration with internal stakeholders (businesses, sales, technology, manufacturing affiliates, product stewardship, etc.), as well as providing quality technical support.

Job Responsibilities:

Technical support

• Coordinate local assets (and oversea assets if applicable) and cross functions to build asset product/market strategy, and lead implementation

• Responsible for initiating, leading and effectively executing regionally or globally aligned innovative projects related to product improvement/optimization and asset implementation

• Represent MD&TM in all common product communications that related to manufacturing (PQDGC, VT, QIT, specifications discussions etc.) to support continuous product quality optimization and keep competition edge in market from product level

Deliver technical seminar/training to Sales teams and adjacent functions as well as external customers

• Conduct market study and collect customer feedback on product quality comparing with competitor's and market intelligence in assigned region/territory

• Resolve technical complaints: provide evidence (product sampling, product quality identification, documentation etc.) to support final justification /compensation to technical complaints and oversee/urge asset's corrective actions to be onboard

• Enhance customer satisfactory by providing effective technical trouble shooting & customer trial support

• Coordinate and report out technical complaints summary on agreed regular basis to keep internal stakeholders understood on same page

Market development

• Analyze assigned industries by understanding industry trends and challenges, value chain, regulatory landscape and identifying the right functional domains for further assessment

• In identified functional domains, define value proposition by conducting market segmentation, understanding of functional requirements and (unmet) needs, and build strong business case

• Collaborate with technology, business and other related functions to develop innovative and differentiated solutions / offerings, including new products, new applications and new customers 

• Identify opportunities for external collaboration (with e.g., brand owners, OEM, machine manufacturers, converters, universities, research laboratories, government agencies, industry associations, etc.) for joint development

• Engage with the eco-system to promote existing products, generate ideas for new solutions / offerings, identify potential joint development partners, and influence for regulations / standards favorable to SABIC

• Lead innovation workshops with potential partners along the value chain to identify market trends, customer needs and opportunities for (joint) development of new solutions

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in polymer/chemical engineering/materials

• Minimum 5 years of technical experience in polymers and/or petrochemical related industrial environment.

• Good product and application knowledge in polyethylene (or polypropene)

• More than 3 years’ experience in (1) technical service; (2) market development; (3) customer development (technical sales) preferred

• Good listening and communication skills

• Able to work independently, self-motivated, good interpersonal skills and teamwork.

• Good technical background, with commercial sense is better.

• Strong analytical and conceptual selling skills

• Balance of short dated technical support activities and long term market-facing related activities

• Multicultural flexibility and international mindset of building on diversity

• Professional verbal and written communication skills in English.

• Good track record of execution and delivery of project
