Job Summary

 

The primary responsibility of the Process Safety Engineer is to monitor and guide major process safety related activities for new company Bergen op Zoom. It is an assurance role to ensure process safety hazards are identified, mitigation measures are in place to prevent the release of chemicals or energy into locations that could expose employees or assets to harm, and ultimately the repressive systems are effective to limit consequences. The Process Safety Engineer supports and gives advice to the management to improve the Process Safety aspects of the culture we aspire to have in Bergen op Zoom

 

How You Can Be the Impact

 

  • Ensure that process design and process technology are aligned with process safety requirements and industry standards.
  • Analyze and issue (legal) reports in relation to Process Safety performance and provide recommendations for enhancement and improvement.
  • Coordinate, conduct and track EHSS audits to gauge EHSS compliance. (Both internally and externally for the Multi-user site). Based on received insights you will develop strategies for improvement and identify high-value focus areas.
  • Facilitate planned and unplanned governmental audits (e.g. SEVESO) on site and follow up on action tracking.
  • Member of the Process Safety Network and new companies’ international Chlorine/Phosgene Council. Meet with Process Safety colleagues to share knowledge, best practices and Process Safety initiatives.
  • Coordinate and oversee the activities in relation to Process Safety emergency planning.
  • Plan, implement and review the Process Safety management system elements in relation to short and long-term goals.
  • Ensure high quality of PHA studies and lead PHA studies when external support is not available.
  • Create a systematic program to build up a process safety culture through engagement with the organization, roll-out of Process Safety Campaigns, awareness sessions, workshops, audits, … and advise on Process Safety training gaps.

 

 

What Matters to SABIC

 

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree (Chemical or Mechanical Engineering).
  • At least 10 years of relevant work experience (EHSS, plant operation and/or engineering).
  • Fluent Dutch and English language skills.
  • Actively worked with ATEX requirements as well as relevant industry standards related to safety reports, chemical storage, etcetera.
  • Relevant experience in Process Safety management
  • Deep knowledge of SABIC Business and Processes.
  • Effective sparring partner for the organization (networking & communication skills).
  • Effective team player, result oriented and conceptual thinking skills.
