Job Summary

The Mechanical Maintenance Craftsperson is responsible for adhering to site safety processes related to confined space entry, lock out tag out, line breaks and safe work permits while performing hands-on repairs, re-builds, preventative and predictive maintenance tasks to ensure continuous operation of the production facilities. This role services manufacturing process equipment including: rotating equipment, pellet manufacturing equipment, pneumatic transfer systems, liquid materials transfer equipment, and raw material loading and unloading systems.  This role also utilizes a Central Maintenance Management System to document all maintenance activities. The ideal candidate should be a highly motivated, self-directed individual, with a safety mindset, who is ready to work in a team environment. 

 

How You Can Be the Impact

  • Install and maintain mechanical equipment across the site.
  • Perform repair/replace, rebuild, preventative, and predictive maintenance activities.
  • Troubleshoot failures and upsets and complete repair of equipment including pumps, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, valves, piping, tracing, motors, seals, bearings, machines, etc.
  • Working with Central Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and computers (PC's or mainframe systems) is required for accurate and timely documentation of all activities and ability to research information as required by the role. Investigation and documentation of root cause failures and suggested corrective actions with proper coding in CMMS.
  • Successful completion of all assigned training (internal & external).
  • Complete any other tasks required to maintain plant operations.

 

What Matters to SABIC

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Five years’ experience in equipment repair, rebuild and maintenance or equivalent millwright experience
  • Experience in troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of chemical and manufacturing plant equipment (gearboxes, pumps, bearings, hydraulic systems, seals, motors, blowers, etc.)
  • Contemporary technical skills and problem-solving aptitude
  • Demonstrated ability to use general equipment (saws, presses, grinders, power tools)
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and P&ID's
  • Working knowledge of a Central Maintenance Management System
  • Solid math skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a high involvement team environment
  • Ability to work overtime as required including call-in on off-shifts/weekends to perform emergency repairs as necessary as well as availability during unit shutdowns.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb vertical ladders and work at heights/elevated platforms up to 130'. Work outdoors including during periods of excessive heat and cold weather.

Desired Skills

  • Associates Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Maintenance or Engineering
  • Experience with rotating equipment, lubrication systems, rigging, welding, pipe-fitting, laser alignment, precision measurement and vibration analysis
  • Experience with computers (Microsoft programs, mainframe applications, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of SAP
  • Vocational Training in a related area
  • ISA Certification

 

Work Availability

Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of this position. Applicants must be regularly available and willing to work Monday – Friday during assigned hours of operation and such other hours as the company determines are necessary or desirable to meet business needs
