Job Summary
The Color & Light management team is part of SABIC Specialties Technology & Innovation organization and has teams in Bergen op Zoom (The Netherlands), Selkirk (USA), and Shanghai (China). The goal of the team is to create value for our customers through color innovation (supporting new product introductions, platform developments related to interaction of electromagnetic radiation with engineering plastics) and process excellence (productivity programs, strategic colorant and color processes).
How You Can Be the Impact
- As part of the Color & Light Management team you will lead programs to develop proprietary solutions for customers resulting in new products, new platform technologies, and increased productivity.
- Primary responsibilities will include leading the day-to-day, safe operations of SHPP’s Global Weathering Lab, which includes project execution, instrument calibrations, maintenance, and managing various service contracts. This will also require extensive global interactions with Color and Product Technology, Commercial Teams, Product Management and ColorXpress* Services to execute various short, medium and long-term growth projects.
- You will have significant interactions with the commercial teams & customers, providing weathering and molded-in-color expertise to help them solve their most challenging paint replacement problems. You will also lead our efforts to actively engage with and influence standards organizations and committees.
- Part of your job will encompass leading color technology platforms related to the interactions of engineering thermoplastics with light offering proprietary solutions for our customers and resulting in new sustainable product and/or process introductions.
- Ensure activities are compliant with safety, regulatory and intellectual property requirements.
What Matters to SABIC
- The successful candidate will be a highly creative and self-motivated individual with exceptional project management, influencing and communication skills.
- PhD. in Polymer, Physical or Organic Chemistry, Material Science or Color Science or MSc/BSc degree with >10 years or relevant experience. Prior research experience with polymer degradation and accelerated weathering of polymeric materials desired.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and successfully manage multiple, complex deliverables that require effective teamwork & communication with key stakeholders. Prior experience leading an R&D laboratory desired.
- Ability to work in cross-functional and global teams.
- Willingness to learn about Color Science and Technology.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated technical leadership through peer reviewed publications and presentations.
- Six Sigma (DMAIC and DFSS) training/knowledge are preferred.
