Job Summary

Working with minimal supervision, position requires production of color formulations and microlots in fulfillment of customer matching requests and orders. Responsibilities include proper selection of colorants, both type and quantity, to obtain high-quality non-metameric color matches balancing all customer CTQ's, including cost and adjustability, as well as production of microlots including weighup, adjustment, production and shipping. Must be able to create and adjust formulas for color matches and microlots both visually and using software and instruments. Products include all grades produced by SABIC's Innovative Plastics business.

How You Can Be the Impact

Secondary responsibilities include project work such as re-formulations, process improvements, new colorant evaluation support and qualifying new products. The technician will work with the color process leader, lead tech and shift leader to complete qualification and certification criteria based on their assigned training schedule.

  •  Assists in providing guidance, training, resources, clarification, or cross-site team/unit coordination and communication as necessary to facilitate improvement in work process execution. This includes being a Safe Work Permit issuer, SHEM 10-Incident/Accident Investigation reporting for the operation.
  • Assist in creating a culture in which commitment to "resolve it myself" pervades the organization. Documents the progress towards this culture and coaches and mentors the team to this commitment. Utilizes this data to help differentiate performance of the team and uses this documentation for input in the appraisal process.
  • Promotes a culture that values change to achieve continuous improvement throughout the operation.

 

What Matters to SABIC

  • Ability to pass color vision test
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of computerized color formulation and control programs or ability to be trained
  • Demonstrated math skills
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated record keeping skills and computer skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with minimal supervision
  • Work overtime and weekends as required

 

Physical Requirements

  • Capable of handling emergency situations and changing priorities
  • Ability to lift 55 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Work overtime as required
