Job Summary

The Analyst EHSS is responsible for the administration and coordination of the emergency response team activities through the supervision and review of team member’s activities. This role also includes oversight for the contract site security team and management of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes.

 

How You Can Be the Impact

  • Provide site leadership and technical assistance to the plant site for all fire protection/inspection standards and regulations as outlined by OSHA, NFPA, State of Illinois.
  • Ensure compliance of regulations and SABIC requirements for firefighting, fire prevention, hazardous material response, Confined Space/Vertical rescue and emergency response operating standards.
  • Incident Commander for Fire, Medical, HAZMAT, and Rescue Calls. Coordinates and oversees Crisis Management Team and Emergency Control Center operations, training, scheduling and updating of appropriate manuals.
  • Conducting Emergency Response Team tactical training, annual hazardous materials and special rescue training programs, and assist with first responder in-service training. Plans and implements emergency drills for the Ottawa site.
  • Responsible for maintaining all site security rules and regulations per US Coast Guard regulations (MARSEC) and any other Corporate, State, and federal regulation.
  • Ensure all security equipment is maintained and functioning as required. Ensure qualified security personnel are maintained per SABIC requirements.
  • Manage site non-hazardous and hazardous waste including waste profiles, manifests, storage, handling, and training.
  • Act as point of contact for emergency response and security issues within manufacturing operations for assigned areas/medias.
  • Key interfaces include working with Regional EHSS, local Fire Chiefs, external Emergency response personnel, Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), County/State Law Enforcement, Operations and Maintenance leaders and technicians along with routine exposure to site level management.
  • Individual will also interact with other sites around the business to translate best practices. The individual will interact with Federal & State agencies.

 

What Matters to SABIC

  • A minimum of certification as a Firefighter II, Fire Instructor I, HazMat Ops, Confined Space Ops, Rope Ops and EMR, or obtain certification within one year after the acceptance of this position and State Certified Instructor.
  • Minimum of 10-year emergency response experience and 5 years’ experience in a leadership role.
  • Experience in firefighting, emergency medical services, hazardous materials and confined space rescue.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Ability to transfer relevant information efficiently and effectively using Microsoft Office applications and other IT applications.
  • Organizational skills to balance priorities between immediate work and longer-term strategical efforts.

 

Physical Requirements: Walk for extended distances, climb stairs & ladders, leaning/kneeling to view equipment and lifting in excess of 50#.
