Business Development Manager - DACH/BLX Automotive



As the ‘home of unique offerings’ within SABIC, the Business Unit of Specialties is set to work on the hard, difficult endeavours in technology for they can bring a fundamental progress to the way we travel, communicate, work and live. This SBU provides unique solutions with high heat resins, functional compounds, and additives to industries such as Mobility, Industrial, Infrastructure, Electronics and Healthcare with market applications for E-mobility, EV-Infrastructure, Water Management, Photovoltaic, Electrical, Electronic, Aircraft, Rail, Consumer and Medical Devices. 

The DACH/BLX Business Development /OEM Growth group belongs to the commercial DACH/BLX team within the customer fulfillment department in SABIC Specialty Europe. The group has the responsibility to develop Project Pipeline and grow sales in focus segments with new & existing Specifiers and selected OEM’s in DACH/BLX.
The BD/OEM Growth DACH/BLX group is 9 -11 Business Development and OEM Growth managers. The Business Development Manager reports to the DACH/BLX BD/OEM Growth Leader and manages projects at accounts in an assigned growth area and will represent the DACH/BLX team in European growth initiatives related to Automotive applications. 


 Job Purpose


Drive profitable growth and expansion of Specifiers and OEMs within the assigned portfolio/territory

  • Identify, develop, and close new business.
  • Create and develop target pipeline.
  • Provide our company deep insights in business drivers of the Specifiers and OEMs within assigned portfolio.
  • Build, maintain and orchestrate strong customer relationships. 




  • Leverage technical and commercial knowledge to discover, define, develop, deliver and translate high margin value added business in existing and new applications.
  • Deliver application design productivity and leverage delivered value to secure material specification.
  • Cooperate and coordinate with PM, T&I and GApT Teams (Research Groups) to improve Specifiers & OEM value recognition up to commercialization. 
  • Translation of key technologies and validation of new technologies at assigned Specifiers & OEM(s) through in depth knowledge of specification/decision making process, material positioning/application development systematics & product life cycle.
  • Represents all aspects of the company’s business and is a source of information for the assigned Specifiers & OEM(s) and for SABIC Specialty. 
  • Responsible to bring “Voice of Customer” to SABIC-Specialties Product Team, Business Management, T&I and Fulfilment Team to better materialize New Product Introduction (NPI) opportunities.
  • Develop Mid and long-term strategy (2-5 years) for own Specifiers & OEM’s and support development of team’s account & segment strategy and facilitates commercialization with (OEM) AM or distribution partners. 
  • Give input for planning (start of production, needs in the ramp up) for the forecasting (S&OP) when this is relevant.





  • Mechanical or Plastics Engineer or Chemical master’s degree              
  • Experience in the plastics industry is a must @ value chain (OEM’s and specifiers)
  • Automotive or other market experience would be an advantage
  • Min. 5 years Application Development and Plastics experience beyond commodities      
  • Understands metal to plastic conversion for structural and tribological components
  • Languages: German, English both are mandatory for the job
  • Full Time Position - Frequent travelling; 30% to 50% of total time
