Job Purpose

The role is responsible for effectively managing credit risk management and cash collection for key customer groups in the APAC LRD’s, Account Receivable (AR) closing and Key Performance Index (KPI) and other management reporting of the APAC LRD’s, and being a key member for process improvement and simplification projects.



Primary Responsibilities

  • Policies and Procedures
    • To monitor compliance with the corporate policies (MAS) and procedures for credit and collection functions.
    • Assist in process improvement and simplification projects to improve operational efficiency, strengthen internal control and increase productivity.


  • Credit Management
    • Perform due diligent check and credit analysis on new customers.
    • Evaluate and analyze existing customer’s credit worthiness.
    • Recommend suitable credit facilities to open account customers for approval, in compliance with policy and procedures as per MAS & Delegated Authorities.
    • Manage customer accounts by maintaining and updating a complete listing of customer database for KPI and management reports.
    • Conduct annual credit review and assessment for existing customers.
    • Perform financial analysis of Distributor channel for Legal Approval.
    • Prompt review of credit orders for shipment release to ensure smooth business operations as per MAS policy.
    • Sending out monthly statements and closely following on collection forecast and payment schedules from external customers by regular collection telephone calls


  • Collection Management
    • Monitor customer accounts and follow up on timely collections to improve DSO, minimize overdue % and maintain zero bad debt.
    • Liaise with Sr. Manager Finance APAC to highlight potential high risk accounts to take remedial actions to minimize collection risk.
    • Recommend credit hold, final demand and legal actions to resolve past dues and customer disputes in timely manner.
    • Prepare reports to Treasury - on incoming cash flow forecast on monthly basis.


  • Accounts Receivables (AR)
    • External customer collection and system input
    • Ensure accuracy and completeness of AR on monthly basis
    • Responsible for account reconciliation of Accounts receivable including:
    • Preparing and reviewing A/R related account reconciliation
    • Resolving in a timely manner and clearing of open items of A/R related accounts, including bank intermediate accounts and rebate accounts.
    • Ensure accuracy of posting of bank receipts and timeliness in managing customers with secured payment terms, i.e. Letter of credit and cash in advance term. Letters of credit are not managed by AR
    • ECL posting after Head of Finance review


  • Reporting
    • Responsible for timely submission of management reports on DSO, past due analysis, cash flow management, collection and past due forecast report.
    • Compile ad hoc analysis report as requested by management team / SBU leaders.

  • Education & Training
    • Degree holder in Accounting, Business or Finance or related fields
    • Knowledge of Accounting procedures


  • Experience
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in finance and accounting with multi-national companies.  Previous credit & collections experience required
    • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
    • Previous ERP experience desired (SAP OTC modules (SD, FI, AR, FSCM), Oracle, etc.)  Strong knowledge of standard accounting practices
    • Knowledge of local accounting rules
