Responsible for developing and maintaining SABIC Functional Forms America's import and export requirements and controls. The position will lead business-wide trade compliance process optimization and mitigate risks.
This position will serve as the subject matter expert on America's trade compliance (import, export and related topics), will set direction in line with internal policy, and facilitate awareness, training, development, implementation and management of compliance operations for internal and third party operations for Functional Forms.


Job Purpose & Responsibilities 

  • Develop and implement compliance audits and identify areas of trade compliance risk within organization.
  • Develop and implement periodic self-assessments to identify potential areas of international trade compliance vulnerability and implement corrective action plans as deemed necessary. i.e. tariff classification reviews
  • Initiate and/or review and/or revise Standard Operating Procedures, policies and documentation in accordance with changing legal framework and business models including SAP design and implementation.
  • Monitor regulatory and legislative changes.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for understanding and communicating regulations issued by the various Government agencies related to import and  export compliance.
  • Will be the primary point of contact for answering questions and resolving day-to-day trade compliance issue´s escalation.
  • Identify, recommend and implement import and export compliance and operational synergies to reduce cost and regulatory risk.
  • Develop and facilitate required targeted import/export training for all domestic SABIC sites.
  • Optimize the use of various duty deferral programs, including but not limited to, various relevant free trade agreements (FTA), duty drawback.
  • Analyze bills of material/spec sheets, research and qualify goods for NAFTA certification complying with rules of origin and other requirements
  • Support audit related requirements as needed.
  • Support classification activities for parts and equipment and advises customs brokers in Canada and United States of domestic proper tariff classifications for products shipped both from affiliates or external vendors/customers.
  • Work with procurement to authorize qualified third party providers (E.g. customs brokers, bonds, etc.). Develop, create or obtain all necessary performance metric reports and approve their operational procedures.




  • BS / BA Degree
  • Minimum 3-5 years of Logistics, Supply Chain or Operations experience,
  • Previous logistics experience with knowledge of Procurement, Carrier Operations, and Cost Management
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Possess a strategic mindset
  • Excellent interpersonal / communication skills
  • Demonstrated project management experience and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Team player
  • Ability to work across multiple functional groups and at various levels
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Excel, Access
  • Data oriented with experience analyzing large data sets using Excel and other data querying tools



  • SAP Experience, specifically in the LE module
  • Six Sigma trained / experience
