Job Summary

The Process Safety Management (PSM) Engineer will monitor and continuously improve the site PSM system. Will be involved in all aspects of PSM at the site including PHA’s, PSM Audits, Process Safety training, and investigations.  Will provide technical expertise to site operating units to evaluate risks and cost –effectively resolve PSM issues.

 

•Conduct Process Safety reviews, including Process Hazards Analysis (PHA), Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and fault Tree Analysis.

 

•Developing guidelines to set control limits for Safe Operating Window

 

•Driving Management of Change Process (MOC) and ensuring process effectiveness and awareness to the site.

 

•Have knowledge of facility sitting, Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) approaches and guiding site for smooth implementations of requirement.

 

•Collaborating with operations during the design of advanced process control Systems

 

•Selecting the correct mechanical integrity level for safety critical devices.

•Help sites to implement PSM improvements.

 

How You Can Be the Impact

  • Provide direction, technical support, and a high degree of expertise to the implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM) policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Assist with the development, evaluation, monitoring and reporting of PSM performance targets for the site.
  • Coordinate the implementation of PSM policies to establish a high level of protection for SABIC operations, incident prevention, and compliance with governmental regulatory requirements, internal standards, and Responsible Care codes.
  • Support the PSM aspects of SABIC’s safety compliance audit program, support selection of and training in the use of PSM tools, support investigations of major incidents.

 

What Matters to SABIC

  • BS Degree in Chemical Engineering or related engineering degree.
  • 10 years an active role in PSM managing within the Petro or Chemical industries.
  • Previous manufacturing roles (operations and process engineering) is strongly desirable.
  • Conduct Process Safety reviews, including Process Hazards Analysis (PHA), Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and fault Tree Analysis.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Good knowledge of chemical manufacturing processes and roles.
