JOB SUMMARY

Leads all Environmental, Health, Safety and Security initiatives across manufacturing within the Long Sault site and serves as a key member of the Site Leadership team. • Reports to the Long Sault Senior Manager
 

JOB  PURPOSE & RESPONSIBILITIES

• EHSS Culture owner and development architect for Long Sault, fostering a zero injury work environment
• Develop and maintain effective EHSS programs and resourcing for site, to ensure results and capabilities exceed company, OHSA and MOL guidelines;
• Provides strong leadership to drive strategic and technical improvements and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and SABIC standards (including SHEMs) for all Site EHSS programs including: air, water, waste, safety, Hazardous Material transportation, security, Chemical Importation, Emergency Response and Preparedness, Process Safety Management, and EHSS Training
• America’s Compounding representative with America’s Region EHSS
• Leads site safety, behavioral based safety (BBS), ergonomics and Industrial Hygiene program
• Ensures appropriate development of permit applications and implementation of permit requirement; data, reports, records and documents are collected, prepared, submitted and maintained as required by corporate policy and government regulations
• Acts as an immediate contact for operators and associates on the shop floor concerning environmental, health, safety and security related needs and issues
• Manages EHSS expense budgets and directs/inputs on capital projects.
• Leads collaboration with EHS Leaders from other AMS Compounding and Functional Forms sites to drive best practice exchange and synergy
• Participates as a member of America’s and Long Sault Site leadership team in moving the organizations forward in a progressive environment

• Monitor and ensure we are following all mandated COVID practices, provide site updates on cases, local and provincial trends on weekly EHSS regional calls

• Lead monthly JHSC meetings and complete monthly safety audits

• Liaise with Occ. Nurse to manage any WSIB cases

• Oversee and conduct Incident Investigation and Root Cause analysis

• Ensure injury and illness cases are effectively managed to closure and preventive measures are identified, communicated, and implemented

• Develop, implement, deliver, and track effective training programs

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 

You must have unrestricted authorization to work in Canada.
• Manufacturing experience of at least 5 years 
• Related Post-Secondary Education (preferably a BSc degree), Technical or advanced degree; and/or equivalent
• Outstanding team building and collaboration skills
• Excellent leadership, management and mentoring skills, inclusive of an understanding of behavioral management techniques.
• Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
