Job Purpose: 

The Process Safety Engineer must be capable of identifying process hazards, evaluating the risk of those hazards, and assist in the development of Effective solutions to mitigate risk.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) on existing and new processes
  • Provide oversight for the site Management of Change (MOC) Process
  • Manage the site PHA schedule and recommendation implementation plan
  • Participate in development of safeguarding philosophies, Cause and Effect diagrams, PHA / HAZOP reviews, LOPA analysis, SIL analysis, PSSR checklists, etc.
  • Provide mentoring and training for site personnel
  • Participate on teams responsible to implement new products and processes
  • Perform Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) for determining if the risk of an accident scenario is low enough.  Develop and implement key performance indicators (most importantly, leading indicators) to track the progress of PSM on a week-by week and month-by-month basis.
  • Evaluate new processes and modify existing processes and facilities to meet new requirements.
  • Provide oversight and conduct audits for site management of change (MOC) and pre-start up safety review process (PSSR).
  • Participate on teams responsible for implementing new products and processes.
  • Manage the communication with the Licensor, Technology and innovation (T&I), Manufacturer and center of excellence (MCE), other affiliates & vendors.
  • Demonstrate how to prepare for PHA meetings, how to effectively lead the hazard review meetings, and how to document the results in a useable  PHA report. Lead & contribute in Process hazard analysis (PHA) studies, Re-Do-Hazop, pre- start up safety review PSSR for all Plants.
  • Lead and participate in technical audits and reviews, HAZOP facility siting etc.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering

 

Minimum Experience:

 

  • Minimum 8 years of experience

 

 

Work Availability

Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of this position. Applicants must be regularly available and willing to work (e.g. Sunday – Thursday) during assigned hours of operation and such other hours as the company determines are necessary or desirable to meet business needs.
