Job Purpose:
- To provide maintenance engineering expertise that safeguards the safe, reliable, and cost-effective performance of plant assets within the assigned area. Develop and optimize equipment maintenance strategies, lead root cause analyses of equipment failures, and drive reliability improvement initiatives to sustain high equipment availability and integrity. Support maintenance planning, turnaround readiness, and continuous improvement while ensuring full compliance with EHSS policies, SHEM standards, SABIC Engineering Standards, and corporate procedures.
Key Accountabilities:
- Ensure all maintenance engineering activities, recommendations, and work packages fully comply with EHSS policies, SHEM standards, and applicable regulatory requirements. Incorporate safety, health, and environmental considerations into maintenance strategies, job scopes, and repair methods. Participate in EHSS incident investigations related to equipment failures, support implementation of corrective and preventive actions, and contribute to SHEM programs, audits, and safety campaigns within the assigned area.
- Based on equipment criticality, Analyze equipment performance data, failure history, and condition-monitoring results to identify chronic issues, bad actors, and performance killers within the assigned area. Develop and implement reliability improvement plans, including preventive and predictive measures, to reduce unplanned failures and maximize equipment availability. Track reliability metrics (MTBF, equipment availability, PM compliance) and convert trends into concrete improvement actions aligned with SABIC Engineering Standards and manufacturing best practices.
- Establish, review, and continuously optimize equipment maintenance strategies based on equipment criticality, risk, and lifecycle requirements. Maintain and update PM plans, task lists, and condition-monitoring routines in SAP PM, ensuring maintenance effort is directed where it delivers the greatest reliability and cost benefit. Identify and eliminate low-value or redundant maintenance tasks without compromising safety, integrity, or regulatory compliance.
- Deliver engineering support to Operations and maintenance execution teams for the diagnosis and resolution of equipment failures. Lead and participate in structured root cause analyses for significant, repeated, and high-impact failures, and define corrective and preventive actions that prevent recurrence. Follow up action implementation to closure and verify effectiveness through subsequent equipment performance.
- Provide planning and scheduling teams with accurate job scopes, technical specifications, material and spare-parts requirements, and quality requirements for maintenance work. Contribute to shutdown and turnaround preparation through scope development, work-pack review, technical evaluation of contractors and materials, and participation in readiness reviews to enable safe, efficient, and on-schedule execution.
- Review and optimize spare-parts requirements, bills of materials, and stocking strategies for critical equipment in coordination with Procurement and Warehouse. Support obsolescence management and identify opportunities for repair-versus-replace decisions, standardization, and localization of parts. Contribute to maintenance cost control by improving man-hour estimating accuracy, reducing rework, and identifying cost-saving initiatives without compromising reliability or integrity.
- Identify and implement improvements in maintenance work processes, engineering practices, and data quality within the assigned area. Support adoption of digital tools, condition-monitoring technologies, and advanced analytics to enhance maintenance effectiveness. Capture and share lessons learned and best practices across maintenance teams, and benchmark against SABIC affiliates and industry standards.
- Ensure maintenance engineering deliverables comply with SABIC Engineering Standards, OEM requirements, and corporate procedures. Maintain complete and accurate equipment history, technical documentation, and asset records in SAP, and support audits, MOC reviews, and asset integrity programs including SHEM requirements and integrity operating windows.

- Experience in using engineering drawings, system manuals, and maintenance documentation for effective maintenance planning and execution
- Proficiency in SAP (PM module) and Microsoft Office for maintenance management, tracking, and reporting
- Working knowledge of reliability engineering tools and methodologies
- Knowledge of predictive and condition-based maintenance techniques
- Strong knowledge of petrochemical plant safety requirements, protocols, and SHEM standards applicable to maintenance activities
- Goal-oriented approach to safe work practices, risk management, and environmental safety within maintenance operations
- General understanding of quality requirements relevant to maintenance processes
- Knowledge of SABIC Engineering Standards, OEM requirements, and their interpretation in maintenance execution
