Job Summary
SABIC Data & Computational Science team is a growing organization providing statistical leadership throughout the different Technology and Innovation Centers in USA, Asia Pacific, Europe, and KSA. This position offers an excellent career opportunity for a data scientist to leverage applied statistics/ data science methodology in broad-based application areas from product development to process optimization, reliability as well as digitalization in Petrochemical Industry.
How You Can Be the Impact
- Execute projects using statistical methodology, providing statistical direction and developing approaches for nonstandard statistical problems.
- Provide expertise and consultation on complex problems supporting statistical methods in combination with machine learning and big data technology in manufacturing across SABIC. Traveling and extended stay at a site may be required.
- Working closely with scientists, managers, and teams, providing statistical expertise in a variety of multivariate and experimental design methods leading to the development or improvement of products or processes globally.
- Participate in the assessment and introduction of new data technology supporting digitalization and automation efforts for application to a broader practice within the organization.
- Coordinating the training and deployment of key statistical concepts for scientist and engineers as well as teaching seminars in applied statistical methods, data mining, multivariate analysis and design of experiments. Also collaboration with Universities, research institutions, publishing, and presenting the work to the wider applied statistical community.
What Matters to SABIC
- Work on state of the art techniques for data analysis and predictive modeling to expedite completion of R&D projects
- Develop statistical solutions to complex problems
- MS or PhD in Applied Statistics or related field from an accredited university or Equivalent Engineering degree with strong background in data science.
- Minimum of three years relevant experience in related field, with a PhD (greater number of years of experience with lesser degree of education)
- Demonstrated experience in use of data based models to optimize industrial processes is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in development of hybrid models (combination of first-principles and data based models) is preferred.
- Experience in predictive modeling, statistics, machine learning to collect, explore and extract insight from structured and unstructured data. Ability to carry out advanced data analyses
- Experience with computer-generated optimal design of experiments, preferred
- Background in Machine learning would be a plus
- Ability to work in collaborative multidisciplinary scientific environment
- Ability to communicate technical results to non-statisticians
- Experience developing and implementing statistical models, machine learning and analytics
- Experience with statistical applications in chemistry and engineering
- Proficiency with statistical software packages including SAS and JMP
