Job Summary

The academic advisor role within the Educational Programs team plays a critical role in successfully implementing the scholarship program in the AMR region.  You will provide integrated academic advisement, coaching and consultation to a designated group of SABIC sponsored students; this may include students at the pre-college (i.e. Foundation Year), undergraduate, and/or graduate level.  You will partner with approximately 15 universities to support your students as they follow rigorous degree plans, ensuring they graduate on time and that the educational investment made by SABIC is maximized.  All of our students are originally from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and therefore require your support in matters of academic and cultural adjustment. In addition to academic advising, you will find creative ways to connect your student to SABIC (E.g. internships, seminars, conferences, events, etc.), and foster students' professional development.  We are looking for outgoing and compassionate individuals who can work in a fast paced and changing environment. 

 

How You Can Be the Impact

  • Excellent oral, written, and organizational skills. 
  • A working knowledge of immigration policy and degree requirements in the fields of engineering and business. 
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively. 
  • Ability to build a professional rapport with diverse individuals including students, institutional partners, and colleagues. 
  • Ability to independently manage case load of students with sensitivity.  Ability to serve as an emergency contact for student case load, including maintaining a work mobile phone in the event of a student emergency. 
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and changing work situations professionally and in a calm manner.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time annually; peak travel seasons are September - November and February – April.
  • Passionate about working with international students and can juggle the multiple demands of the role. 

 

What Matters to SABIC

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in HR, Education or related field.
  • 3-5 years' experience in English as a Second Language instruction, international education, admissions counseling, educational exchanges, and/or student database management.
  • Work or study abroad experience (preferred).

Work Availability

Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of this position. Applicants must be regularly available and willing to work during assigned hours of operation and such other hours as the company determines are necessary or desirable to meet business needs.
