Job Summary
The Category Manager Supply Chain Procurement – Marine and Terminals is accountable for Sourcing and Contracting strategies and implementation for all Marine sub-categories, including Barge / Regional Marine and Ocean transportation services as well as Terminal Storage services for the Americas for finished goods, manufacturing and raw materials/feedstocks. The Category Manager is responsible for executing procurement practices that align with the SABIC Global Procurement Policy, ETP West Business Unit Procurement Procedures, Code of Ethics, EHSS requirements, Sustainability requirements, and Quality Management Systems, while delivering maximum value for the Company.
How You Can Be the Impact
Responsibilities include:
- Develop category procurement strategies for the Americas Region and subsequently manage the sourcing & contracting process for assigned category/sub-category in line with ETP Supply Chain and business requirements on service level, reliability and quality at optimal TCO.
- Provide guidance and collaborate with Procurement Team members in the Europe Region in developing a global sourcing and contracting strategy for Ocean Shipping to best support the business and deliver value.
- Assess business requirements, conduct competitive tenders, evaluate offers, award and negotiate contracts through efficient and effect category and contract management practices.
- Lead contract negotiations and placement of contracts with value creation in mind for Supply Chain needs and manage assigned category contracts.
- Benchmark rates and ensure all lanes and rates are current and meet business requirements; ensure new lanes are quoted and contracted in a timely manner.
- Manage supplier performance; segment supplier base and routinely schedule and review suppliers’ KPI performance to ensure expectations are met and value is attained.
- Internal engagement with Supply Chain Management, Operations, Procurement, Legal, HR, EHSS, Sustainability, and Finance.
- Reporting of category metrics, preparation of reports and presentations.
- Provide business relevant market information and trends to stakeholders.
What Matters to SABIC
Requirements:
- Master Degree, preferably in Economics / Supply Chain, Business Administration, or Bachelor degree plus extensive relevant training and experience.
- More than 8 years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing and contracting of Marine Logistics Services and Terminal Services, with a minimum of 5+ years’ experience in directly managing the procurement of Barge and Ocean transportation services, including sourcing, contract negotiations and supplier management in the Americas. Note: Ocean Transportation procurement experience is required.
- Demonstrated expert negotiation skills, people management skills, analytical skills, change management, cultural awareness, and style flexibility.
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal) across all business levels, sites, cross-national and cross-functional organizations.
- Strong critical thinking and decision quality.
- Fluent in English.
- Strong SAP experience, with Ariba experience preferred
