Job Summary

For the Global Tax Operations team in Americas region, we are looking for an Indirect Tax Operations Specialist. The role translates tax legislation into hard figures and requires a multi-disciplinary approach in collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate tax reporting using automated solutions. The activities of the Indirect Tax Operations specialist will predominately relate to Value Added Tax/Sales, Use Tax/Goods and Services Tax and other taxes such as Environment Tax, Plastic Tax, Property Tax, Superfund Tax. You will be part of a regional tax team consisting of Tax Analysts/Specialists and report to the Regional Manager Tax Operations. 

 

How You Can Be the Impact

  • Act as a subject matter expert in order to ensure accurate preparation and timely submission of indirect tax returns using automated solutions and applying globally standardized processes;
  • Prepare and/or review account reconciliations for indirect tax accounts;
  • Act as a subject matter expert in order to ensure accurate preparation and timely submission of other tax returns;
  • Prepare and/or review account reconciliations for other tax accounts;
  • Ensure timely tax payments taking into account internal controls; 
  • Cooperate with internal stakeholders to complete the monthly and year-end closing;
  • Liaise with external local (tax) authorities to govern SABIC (tax) compliance in healthy manner;
  • Manage and coordinate (external) audits;
  • Adequately monitor local tax legislative requirements, balanced with global standards;
  • Liaise with external local authorities to govern SABIC (tax) compliance in healthy manner;
  • Collaborate with the Global Tax team to implement restructuring projects;
  • Execute effective end-to-end tax processes in collaboration with the other internal stakeholders;
  • Assure and report out on quantity and quality of outputs (completeness, accuracy, timeliness, consistency);
  • Continuously take initiative to improve tax data quality;
  • Drive resolution of operational issues;
  • Perform control activities (ideally automated) in order to ensure compliance with SABIC internal control frameworks and other regulatory requirements;
  • Support regional Manager Tax Operations in managing budget;
  • Identify tax risks & opportunities.

 

What Matters to SABIC

  • University degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Completion of a post-graduate program is a plus
  • Six plus years of experience in (indirect) tax compliance
  • Experience in a global environment (preferred)
  • SAP and One Source knowledge (preferred)
  • Must have advanced Excel skills
