Job Summary 

We are seeking enthusiastic and energetic engineers who are looking to apply their skills, learn, and grow along with us in the exciting and multi-disciplinary domain involving the use of modeling and simulations for Thermoplastic-intensive application design and development. 




How You Can Be the Impact

  • Work closely with experts from application development, segment, marketing, and product teams to conceptualize. design, simulate, prototype and evaluate thermoplastic-intensive designs leveraging SABIC products for a broad and varied application space, including, but not limited to, automotive, electrification, E&E, packaging, building & construction, healthcare.
  • Effectively leverage modeling, virtual prototyping, and simulations to demonstrate the potential for light-weighting, down-gaging, part-integration, and design-flexibility using thermoplastic solutions, while developing optimized designs that meet the requirements for manufacturability, assembly, and structural and functional performance
  • Lead and drive programs on application design, processing and / or performance simulations for customers in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders (Market Development & Technical Service, Sales, Technology, Marketing and Product Management teams, customers and external parties) to support segment growth.
  • Extend technical expertise and support in addressing customer needs for application development, through design evaluations; simulations of processing and / or performance; and design optimization.
  • Clearly Map customer requirements, specifications and expectations, as well as evolving segment trends, into application design, engineering, and processing benchmarks, and develop detailed simulation, design, testing, and validation strategies to achieve them
  • Keep track of advances in application design and manufacturing trends, and the associated simulation strategies.  Evolve the PE&D simulation competence roadmap to ensure preparedness for addressing simulations for evolving application space.
  • Address queries from internal stakeholders and external Customers on simulations and material-models, and as appropriate, work with Applications and cross-functional teams to carry out exercises for ensuring and improving simulation data quality
  • Work closely with simulations and application development teams to arrive at robust strategies and methods for test-data analysis, material-model parameterization, verification and validation.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to generate new intellectual property (IP) for the company, protect them through various IP tools, and document novel findings and methodologies using internal documentation and reports. Identify opportunities to present relevant contents and value proposition of SABIC solutions at appropriate external forums including conferences and customer meetings.   




  • Proactively communicate with project team members and business stakeholders on progress. Report results and present them to stakeholders and customers.
  • Engage with external parties (contractors, institutes, & Universities) to efficiently develop differentiated services to customers in scope of continuous improvement.
  • Interface with Intellectual Property team to ensure Intellectual Property coverage.
  • Together with the Market Development & Technical Service and Marketing teams, follow application trends and customer needs. Propose pipeline programs to address these needs.
  • Ensure activities are compliant with safety, regulatory & intellectual property aspects.


What Matters to SABIC

  • Bachelors / Advanced degrees in any relevant engineering discipline (Mechanical / Polymers or Materials / Automotive / Civil or Structural / Applied Mechanics or Fluid Mechanics). 
    • Coursework / minors / projects / theses involving the topics of material modeling,  simulations, design or optimization would be a plus
  • Relevant and proven industrial experience on application development and simulation projects (e.g., within or interfacing with OEMs, Tiers or Engineering Agencies)
  • Experience in simulation using commercial software for processing simulations (e.g., MOLDFLOW / MOLDEX 3D / Star-CCM+ / Fluent) and / or for performance simulations (e.g., ABAQUS / LS-Dyna / OptiStruct / DigiMat / COMSOL-Multiphysics)
  • Experience in design for manufacturability (e.g., mold design, tooling, cooling, aesthetics) and / or design for performance (e.g., ease of assembly, part-integration, local reinforcement, hybrid solutions) would be a plus.
  • Understanding of material models that are employed for simulations, and some knowledge of testing methodologies required for generating such data would be a plus
  • A good understanding of strategies to ensure high quality and accuracy of simulations
  • Some simulation knowledge / practical know-how associated with design and processing using multi-material / multi-phase systems (such as fiber-reinforced plastics, foams, hybrid solutions) would be a plus     
  • Some practical understanding of plastics processing, assembly, secondary operations, and application testing would be a plus


  • Experience in customer and external interactions / presentations 
  • Excellent communication skills; excellent written and verbal communication in English
  • Strong analytical skills, pragmatic
  • Able to work in global cross-functional teams
  • Flexibility to travel, mainly within the USA / NA and occasionally to other global locations for internal / external engagements
