DEPARTMENT

The Technical department is responsible for the Process Technology, Integrity, Reliability, Sustainability and Quality Assurance of the entire site Sabic Polyolefine GmbH in Gelsenkirchen. It consists of six sub-teams with approx. 60 employees.

 

JOB PURPOSE:

 

This exciting role as Sr. Manager Process Engineering gives you the opportunity to BE THE IMPACT by supporting our operations team in complex troubleshooting, assuring and optimizing unit performance, leading long term, strategic asset improvements and developing studies.

 

Furthermore you’ll take an important role in our management system, esp. but not only with focus on HAZOP and Management of Change procedures.  To do so, you ENGAGE with several stakeholders within and beyond the Gelsenkirchen organization such as EHSS, Operations, Sabic’s Asset Technology Center (ATC), Technology & Innovation and many others.

 

In your function, you will DELIVER a continuous improvement of the asset performance and ensure compliance to all related management processes as well as legal requirements. Your in-depth technical and engineering knowledge combined with your convincing and open personality enables you to DELIVER a valuable contribution in our reliable business in the future.

 

The ideal candidate has already broad experience in polymer process technologies management.

 

Main Responsibilities:

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of activities, taking account of compliance with EHSS & Regulatory demands, including but not limited to:

  • Contribute to achieve target SHE rates as well as comply with quality procedures and DIN/ISO
  • Accountable for all subordinates safety compliance
  • Drive process safety at site in close cooperation with EHSS department and be a member of the Crisis Management Team at Site
  • Ensure plant process integrity through a well-defined operating envelope and implementation of all process requirements
  • Develop and coach Process Engineering work force to assure required competencies
  • Be part of the Plant Management Team to steer plant performance and assign representatives to support operations
  • Be focal point for PTAI studies , PTAI gap-closure plans  for the site Gelsenkirchen
  • Ensure a proper application of the Sustainability & Energy Work process to improve the energy efficiency and to comply with SABIC Operating Management System (OMS) requirements as well as local legislation
  • Provide process know-how support for plant set up, complex trouble shooting, shutdown and start-up of our polymer assets
  • Evaluate plant performance and drive improvements according to OMS processes and Sabic Value Repositioning (SVR) guidelines
  • Manage CDP preparation for improvement projects, provide process engineering support, monitor process performance and provide process assurance in projects
  • Deliver process support and manage for Site Gelsenkirchen new product implementation (NPI), new catalyst system implementation and other Technology Development projects as agreed upon with Business and Technology in order to contribute to SABIC 2030 Strategy.
  • Lead/participate technical audits/reviews

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

 

We are very curious to hear from candidates who have a Master`s degree or equivalent in Process Engineering, preferably along with 5 to 8 years of experience in the area of process engineering, operations or equivalent in polymer industry and not less than 3 to 5 years of managerial experience.

 

We are looking for an open-minded, goal-oriented, proactive team player with a natural self-motivated manner and a high sense of responsibility.

 

An ideal candidate for this position provides the following attributes, well reflected in your professional experience:

  • Attitude of compliance with legal, regulatory and SABIC internal requirements
  • Ability to effectively communicate and ENGAGE with different stakeholders, internally and externally
  • Knowledge of (local) requirements for operating polymer plants according Hazardous Incident Ordinance
  • Experience with EHSS-Management Systems would be a benefit in your application
  • Fluent German and English language skills in writing and spoken
  • Systematic, independent and responsible working style
  • Ability to identify and consequently follow priorities

Location: Gelsenkirchen, Germany

Travel: up to 25% (regionally and globally)
