Lead Scientist Personal Hygiene and Healthcare


The Application Technology team is a global team supporting process and application development of the SABIC material portfolio in all market spaces. The team works closely with the T&I segment teams as well as the customer facing business teams and builds a bridge between the product lines and the market. The Europe team is part the global GApT organization, is host to a number of Centers of Excellence and continues to expand its competences and capabilities to drive differentiation in several markets. For our team in Geleen, The Netherlands, we’re looking for a high energy, goal-oriented Lead Scientist to support the growth plans in the personal hygiene and healthcare space.



  • Drive and develop new and innovative solutions for personal hygiene and healthcare applications.
  • Work in a multidisciplinary setting with the technology segment Emerging Technology and collaborate with different disciplines in the Technology and the Business environment where project approval, execution and implementation need to be secured.
  • Initiate and coordinate research programs, align goals, priorities and needs with the stakeholders, and deliver on the targets.
  • Interface with external collaboration partners, like machine builders and convertors, in order to drive adoption of our solutions in the value chain.
  • Work closely with the business team to handle customer support requests.



  • You have a university education with MSc or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Polymers or Materials Science.
  • You have a solid understanding of structure-property relations of polymers with preferably a background in Polyolefins and or PC.
  • You have a strong interest in personal hygiene and healthcare applications of polymers and are able to understand the translation of product CTQ’s to material property needs.
  • You are leveraging your creativity to identify new opportunities for our materials in the aforementioned market spaces.
  • You are eager to learn, keep yourself updated with the state-of-the-art, but at the same time you have a critical mindset and are able to challenge results and ideas.
  • You can guide and mentor others in the team, but also enjoy going to the labs to perform experiments yourselves occasionally.
  • You have good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • You strictly adhere to the company safety (EHS) policies and procedures.
