Job Summary

The Engineer, Process Engineer, applies technical expertise on process engineering with critical depth in functional area performing complex assignments often requiring development of new or improved products, processes or techniques

 

How You Can Be the Impact

  • Guides, executes, tracks progress and ensures completion of multiple phases of the engineering or production work process effectively based on understanding state-of-the-art concepts in industry and applying broad input and priorities based on business criticality:
    • Evaluates and analyzes projects, products, materials and/or processes, supports root cause analysis, generates reports, performs design and engineering tasks and coordinates own activities with other engineers and operating groups on production/ maintenance/ process planning and improvement activities/programs/projects or application design.
    • Scopes and implements projects and project staffing in coordination with operating or engineering units and manager, technology and other engineering resources to ensure timely startup, budget control and completion.
  • Research technical goals and/or problems and develop innovative and creative technical solutions, applications, approaches, procedures, control techniques, standards and opportunities for improvement considering  future implications of problems and solutions.
  • Coordinates planning, organization and implementation of engineering studies or programs within constraints of specific objectives and target dates as specified by management
  • Contributes to successful project completion by participating in the resolution of issues such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard materials, and complex coordination requirements.
  • Coordinates project activities with other operating or engineering units.
  • Leads and teaches quality and efficiency management techniques/concepts.
  • Identifies type of risk assessment, executes risk assessments and ensures follow up and closure.
  • Ensure technical, safety or reliability studies and acting on results may be held accountable by authorities.
  • Develop specific (long term) plans and KPI’s in order to drive reliability, efficiency and safety in area of expertise.

 

What Matters to SABIC

Minimum:

  • M.Sc. or equivalent with a bachelor degree in Chemical Eng. or Mechanical Eng.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish.
  • Team player – ability to interact with different teams.
  • 3-5 years of technical work experience in industrial environment.

 

Desirable:

  • Experience in performing industrial process troubleshooting, unit performance assurance and optimization.
  • Experience conducting Hazard and Operability study reviews.
  • Proven process engineering design experience considering technical, safety and environmental aspects.
  • Experience using the following engineering tools: Aspen Plus, HYSIS and Exchanger Design & Rating.
  • Thorough understanding of unit operations, process equipment, and technology
  • Excellent analytical capabilities & conceptual thinking.
  • Knowledge of project-based work
  • Negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Communication skills
  • Ability to challenge status quo.
  • Strong result-orientation.
