Department

Asset Engineering Department is a ten-member team focused on improving equipment reliability to deliver world-class EHSS performance and exceed customer demands. Equipment strategies and investigations are collaboratively performed with influential Maintenance, Operations, Process, and EHSS experts.

 

JOB SUMMARY

Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Specialist will work closely with Operations Engineers, EHSS Engineers, Asset Engineers, Process Engineers, Maintenance Engineers, Unit Managers, Maintenance Leaders, and Site Leadership to analyze events and drive corrective action to preventing reoccurrence. This will include the facilitation of RCA’s, reporting out results of the program, tracking and follow-up on RCA study recommendations, developing training, and proactively implementing corrective action based on learnings from other affiliates.

 

The focus will be to manage the RCA program to improve EHSS performance, asset reliability, reduce maintenance cost, and foster continuous learning.

 

Job Purpose & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Leading the RCA program for the Burkville Site to achieve World Class Performance.
  • Assist in the development of training of Site personnel based on SABIC requirements and knowledge gap identified.
  • Mentor and coach facilitators and team members on RCA methodology and software.
  • Develop best practices to serve as a tool.
  • Facilitate RCA’s on equipment failures, operation downtime events, and EHS incidents.
  • Track and follow-up on RCA study recommendation, and validate closure.
  • Report program metrics to Site Leadership and Corporation SME, and develop corrective action to close gaps.
  • Lead Bad Actor Management and Performance Killer programs.
  • Effectively share Key Learnings throughout the Site and Corporation to prevent similar events from occurring and to further grow a learning culture.
  • Identify High Potential event to analyze.

 

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • BS in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
  • 3 years (or more) experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Outstanding mechanical aptitude and understanding of mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Excellent communication skills are necessary.
  • Certification in RCA is required.
  • Experience in reliability tools for preventative & predictive techniques is preferred.
  • Knowledge of ASME Codes and Standards is preferred.
  • Able to read, write, perform basic mathematics, competent with computer business software, provide clear / concise written & verbal communication.
  • Able to work with and influence a diverse group from operations technicians & craftsperson’s to site & business management.
  • Must be a self-starter with the capability to facilitate discussions.
  • Function under time pressures.
  • Drawing conclusions from written or computer generated materials.
  • Creating methodologies for accomplishing a goal.
  • Implementing recommendations by coordinating resources.
  • Directing and influencing activities of others to accomplish a goal.
  • Analyzing data or report information.
  • Conducting research.
  • Developing plans, procedures, goals, strategies or processes based on data analysis or experience.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with operation, technical, SABIC and contract maintenance crafts people.
  • Familiarity with inspection and repair of static assets (structural steel, tanks, vessels, heat exchangers, and piping) and rotating assets (motors, pumps, compressors, and gearboxes).
  • Familiarity with P&ID, piping isometrics, and Process Flow Diagrams.
