Job Summary

This position will support daily operations, including troubleshooting, increasing operational effectiveness and efficiency of production unit towards its entitlement. Oversee equipment resources, debottlenecking, equipment commissioning and production loss accounting. Responsible for ensuring the plant provides maximum unit availability in a safe and economical manner by providing support to plant personnel and using available resources. Interface and coordinate with Supply Chain and SAP data owners. Help to identify employee development opportunities, and participate in operator training/certifications. Responsible for owning and driving to closure operation related TMOCs, MOCs, incident investigations, and action items and preparing for/participating in all necessary EHSS related reviews. This position reports to the Operations Manager of the Utilities & Wastewater Handling Plant at the Burkville site.

 

How You Can Be the Impact

  • Provide technical support to the unit/site to ensure the unit meets all external and internal regulatory requirements, including SOP and OMSs. This includes, but is not limited to preparation for, and participation in PHA’s, executing MOCs, investigating incidents, and owning closure of appropriate action items. Be conversant with all OMSs and be knowledgeable with specific OMS responsibilities related to the position. 
  • Support tactical production engineering needs by collecting and analyzing unit operating data, conducting routine checks, and performing complex operational issue trouble-shooting/ debottlenecking. Lead root cause analyses on operational performance gaps with cross-functional team(s) and implement corrective actions/solutions. Oversee quality of performance gap tracking and resolution. Provide on-going technical coaching/mentoring to enhance operations. Maintain daily communications with plant personnel. Assess information reported by plant personnel and initiate action as appropriate on issues which impede performance.
  • Own the tracking of production, performance monitoring and production losses for the area. Ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken to return operations to normal, including invoking other Work Processes when necessary. Oversee Bad Actor and Performance Killer identification and work with others as appropriate to systematically resolve them at the root cause level. Provide support to SAP inventory accuracy efforts, including cycle count/physical inventory execution as required.
  • Interface with Supply Chain resources as needed to coordinate Raw Material delivery schedules in support of plant operation.

 

What Matters to SABIC

  • BS Engineering (preferably Chemical or Mechanical)
  • Minimum of 3 years engineering experience.
  • Previous experience in either Utilities Operation, Steam Generation, and/or  Wastewater Handling Systems highly recommended
  • Understanding of manufacturing operations, process equipment and technology.
  • Ability to use simple statistical tools for data analysis and apply probability, statistical, modeling and prediction reliability tools appropriately.
  • Ability to use in depth analysis and structured methodology to identify the true root causes of a situation or event.

 

Physical Requirements: Capable of performing sustained physical activities including but not limited to walking, climbing ladders, stairs, standing, squatting, kneeling, pushing/pulling, and ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
