Technician, Analytical

 

Job Summary 

 

As the ‘home of unique offerings’ within SABIC, the Specialties Strategic Business Unit is focused on challenging technology endeavors that positively impact the way the world travels, communicates, works, and lives. This SBU produces a wide range of specialty resins and compounds, incl. high heat resins, LNP compounds and copolymers and NORYL resins

As part of the Analytical Technology organization, this position will be responsible for conducting various laboratory tasks related to the chemical characterization of polymeric systems. The successful candidate will work under the direction of senior analytical staff and collaborate with Product & Application technologists and the manufacturing organization to provide critical data needed to advance ongoing research projects and support manufacturing operations. 

This position requires the utmost attention to safe laboratory practices and conditions along with excellent communication and effective time management skills to conduct multiple project tasks and meet timelines.

 

How You Can Be the Impact

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for routine testing utilizing a wide range of techniques that could include: Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC), (High Temperature) Ion Chromatography (HT-GC), X-ray Fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF), Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy,  Inductively Coupled Plasma spectroscopy (ICP), and Microscopy, as well as other instruments as necessary.  The role also includes helping to maintain multiple instruments and other laboratory equipment and supplies.

Minimum Requirements

 

  • Bachelor degree in analytical chemistry, materials / polymer science or related field.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation,  sample preparation techniques and data interpretation and reporting.
  • Fluent in English language (writing, reading and speaking)
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

 

Desired Qualifications

 

  • Experience working in an industrial laboratory environment
  • Knowledge related to polymers and polymer characterization
  • Knowledge in basic statistical analysis
