Specialties EHSS and Process Excellence Leader

This SBU produces a wide range of specialty resins and compounds, incl. high heat resins, LNP compounds and copolymers and NORYL resins.

 

Job Purpose & Responsibilities

 

Job Purpose

 

  • Lead and support the Specialties EHSS initiatives in Bergen op Zoom for the local Technology and Manufacturing community in order to achieve and maintain EHSS performance objectives, and ensure alignment with other departments.
  • Provide professional advice and actively support organization (including leadership team) in striving towards continuous improvement of the overall EHSS management (incl. training, preventive maintenance, workshops)
  • Create awareness among all employees and contractors in relation to health, safety and the environment within the areas of responsibility.
  • Provide support to the management team in translating and implementing legislation and regulations in the field of EHSS.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Inform, advise and set direction for continuous improvements towards the leadership team and Technology and Manufacturing departments regarding EHSS performance and behaviors.
  • Perform incident reporting and safety operation trend analyses as input for proposals for improvement of EHSS Performance
  • Collaborate with other EHSS teams on site and ensure an aligned safety management system
  • Act as an OMS element owner for the EHSS management system 
  • Conduct investigations of EHSS incidents/accidents for responsible departments and provide reports to management and staff in order to prevent recurrence.
  • Monitor and assess new and updates of (inter)national standards and legislation in the field of occupational safety, health and industrial hygiene in close cooperation with the BoZ site EHSS team
  • Facilitation and coordination of internal and leading existing departmental audits (e.g. EHSS, ISO)
  • Contribute EHSS expertise in Management of Change, JSAs and EHSS Committee.
  • Conduct  Inspections and safety operation rounds in order to verify EHSS behavior in practice, actively conveying/passing on information about EHSS standards by highlighting (un)safe situations and actions and providing feedback on these.

 

Requirements

 

  • BSc in Chemical Engineering, Material Science or Chemistry or Safety Studies (MVK/HVK)
  • Certified as a Safety Specialist (or willing to become certified) with Industrial Hygiene and Environmental knowledge
  • 2-5 years+ relevant experience
  • Ability to lead & operate in a highly matrixed global environment
  • Fluent in Dutch, both verbal and written. Good level of English is a plus.
  • Effective collaborator internally and externally with strong influencing and communication skills, good listener and analytical thinker
  • Good relationship builder and able to develop network
  • Demonstrated track record of executing & delivering results.
