Job Summary
As Specialist, Product Stewardship, you will act as subject matter expert and proactively monitor, interpret, and help implement regulatory changes that impact SABIC Specialties product portfolio. As part of the Product Stewardship team, you will ensure SABIC Specialties business continuity and growth with respect to regulatory compliance. This will include compliance to Global Government Chemical Control Laws, interacting with governmental regulatory bodies, responding to internal and external customer regulatory inquiries. This role requires close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to implement compliance strategies and address regulatory requirements for the business. The Specialist will report to the Manager, Industry Regulations. This role requires working in SABIC’s site at Bergen op Zoom, the Netherlands.
How You Can Be the Impact
- Act as a strategic partner for SHPP to support business growth
- Align with regional SHPP focal points within Product Stewardship (PST) and the broader PST SME community to effectively and efficiently facilitate the operational and tactical SHPP business needs.
- Secures adequate protection against environmental and consumer health related complaints associated with SABIC products and their application (e.g. healthcare, food contact, E&E, automotive)
- Lead continuous improvement of current PST operational & tactical performance by reallocation of existing resources by revised work practices & tools,
- Provide regulatory guidance, training stakeholders, ensure awareness and understanding of regulatory obligations, chemical hazards and required compliance procedures.
- Improving speed and agility on business processes and business decisions e.g. deviations in MFG, new material introduction, project partnership, customer interaction.
- Pro-actively focus on emerging Product Stewardship related trends, and their potential impact to business strategies and represents SHPP on key product or issue advocacy and industry trade groups.
- Support relevant Corporate Programs (e.g. SHEM audits, PST Incident Management, Sustainable Chemistry and Strategic operational excellence programs) as defined by PST leadership
What Matters to SABIC
- BS in Engineering or Materials Science, Chemistry or equivalent; MS desired.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the plastic industry, 10 years is desired.
- Well-developed English language skills, both written and spoken. Dutch preferred or willing to learn. Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Extensive knowledge of global regulatory and standards agencies that mandate the end-use performance of plastic applications in markets such as Electronics, Medical, Transportation and Infrastructure. Broad experience serving on technical committees of various regulation and standards organizations to develop norms.
- Familiarity and relevant experience in Chemical Regulation, Product Regulatory Affairs, or related fields focused on Product Safety and Stewardship activities.
- Familiarity with certification process, including but not limited to portable water regulations and certifications, EN45545 railway standard and certification.
