Job Summary
As the ‘home of unique offerings’ within SABIC, the Specialties Strategic Business Unit is focused on challenging technology endeavors that positively impact the way the world travels, communicates, works, and lives. This SBU produces a wide range of specialty resins and compounds, incl. high heat resins, LNP compounds and copolymers and NORYL resins
As part of the Analytical Technology SHPP organization, this position, will be responsible for leading and applying his/her expertise in analytical chemistry to evaluate the composition, structure, and properties of polymeric systems. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with Product & Application technologists and the manufacturing organization to provide critical data needed to advance ongoing research projects and support manufacturing operations
How You Can Be the Impact
- Oversee the safe and efficient operations of analytical services in support of SABIC Specialties product lines at the Bergen op Zoom site.
- Deploy, use, identify and develop range of analytical methods in support of existing Specialties technology growth programs and to support issue resolution.
- Provide hands-on technical work and consultation to product and application technology, manufacturing, and commercial teams in support of growth programs, and customer and manufacturing issues.
- Facilitate/develop strategies around workflow processes, equipment maintenance, and lab supplies to ensure agile and reliable lab operations.
- Act as analytical technology liaison for the region and works well with global analytical community in Specialties.
- Seek out, evaluate, establish new capabilities which could include external analytical service providers for Specialties value creation and efficiency.
- Maintain a productive laboratory workspace, including troubleshooting and repairing instrumentation, with relentless attention to safe laboratory practices and conditions
What Matters to SABIC
- Ph.D. (or a M.S. plus 5+ experience) in Analytical Chemistry, Materials/Polymer Science, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience and optional method development skills with analytical techniques such as: Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC), (High Temperature) Ion Chromatography (HT-GC), X-ray Fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF), Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy, Inductively Coupled Plasma spectroscopy (ICP), and Microscopy.
- Excellent interpersonal skills: demonstrated ability to effectively work with individuals at all levels of the organization and across functional disciplines (e.g. business leaders, customers, technicians, engineers, and manufacturing teams)
- Excellent technical, written and verbal communication skills; able to deliver technical messages effectively to non-technical stakeholders and team members
- Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deliver on their objectives
