Inspection and Compliance Engineer

SABIC’s Specialties organization in Bergen op Zoom is looking for an Inspection & Compliance Engineer for the Polyphenylene Ether (PPE) and Noryl plant.

The I&C engineer will have to set up an IVG for SHPP and will be responsible for the legally required inspections for pressure equipment, pressure relief devices and storage tanks (PGS29).

 

How You Can Be the Impact

 

  • Be responsible for periodic reassessments of pressure equipment
  • Be responsible for periodic reassessments of Storage Tanks (PGS 29)
  • Be responsible for inspection of repairs / changes executed on pressure equipment, storage tanks and hoses
  • Be responsible for reporting and discussing the Inspection results of the periodic reassessments and repair / change activities with the different stake holders
  • Be responsible for the I&C database and is the focal point to the notified bodies
  • Troubleshoot and debottleneck of unit operations and related equipment including identifying the problem source. Evaluate alternatives and suggest solutions and improvements.
  • Execute on short-term operational safety actions initiated from HAZOP`s, safety events and incidents.
  • Maintain contact with service departments to optimize plant performance.
  • Assist in commissioning of new equipment and other unit/control modifications.
  • Participate as team member in Incident Investigations, HAZOP and PSSR.
  • Be responsible for the inspection part of turn-around scope and participate in the unit turn-around team to develop the total scope.

 

What Matters to SABIC  

 

  • BSc / MSc level in either mechanical engineering or chemical engineering.
  • Certified Inspector IWT or IKT level 3 according to Dutch Law and Legislation.
  • Minimum of 10+ years working experience in chemical or mechanical engineering.
  • Fluent in English and Dutch.
  • Broad knowledge of regulations in the field of integrity and specifically regarding Pressure Equipment Dutch and European law and legislation.
  • A dynamic, flexible, structured and enthusiastic personality
  • You have the ability to listen generously and practice open advocacy. You are able to provide people the information to perform their assigned roles by spoken and written.
  • You know how to evaluate a particular situation or scenario and quantify the probability and consequence of an undesirable event (risk-based thinking).
