LNP™ SPECIALTY COMPOUNDS
Through advanced compounding capabilities and unique copolymer resin technologies, SABIC’s LNP department actively supports customers to expand their possibilities into cutting edge engineering applications. On SABIC’s Bergen op Zoom site, a team of more than 20 LNP employees, across business, commercial and technology functions is responsible for bringing unique and differentiated compounds to the marketplace.

 

JOB PURPOSE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) poses significant challenges across various applications ranging from consumer electronics or automotive to medical devices. Effective EMI shielding is crucial to ensure reliable operation of electronic devices.
The goal of this internship is to conduct a comprehensive screening of EMI shielding technologies and establish minimum test requirements for shielding materials tailored to specific application spaces. The internship objectives and deliverables include:

•    A comprehensive screening of existing EMI shielding technologies for thermoplastic compounds, with a strong focus on novel filler systems
•    The evaluation of the effectiveness of such technologies through literature research and hands-on testing
•    Regularly sharing knowledge and findings with a local core team of scientists as well as colleagues across the globe will represent an important part of the assignment. The content and results of the internship will be documented in a detailed technical report.

 

This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of SABIC LNP’s FARADEX portfolio and the intern will gain valuable experience in research, experimentation, and stakeholder engagement, making significant contributions to industry practice in the field of electromagnetic compatibility and shielding.

 

REQUIREMENTS
We are looking for a highly motivated HBO student with a background in polymers, polymer processing, or mechanical engineering. 
As intern, you are eager to learn, and you perform and document experiments in an accurate way. You enjoy teamwork and have excellent communication skills. Mastery of the English language is a requirement.
The assignment as trainee/intern is preferably for a period of 9-12 months, starting in September 2024.
