Engineer, Compounding Operations
Job Summary
Our manufacturing organization in Bergen op Zoom is one of the production facilities of the production of advanced engineering thermoplastics. Our manufacturing team is looking for an Operations Engineer for one of the compounding plants to support daily operations, which include troubleshooting, plant optimization, debottlenecking and production loss accounting. You are responsible for the maximum unit availability in a safe and economic manner by providing support to plant personnel using available resources. Your role is within one of the Compounding units together with 100+ colleagues. You will be reporting to the Sr. Manager Compounding Operations.
How Can You Be the Impact
- Troubleshooting and debottlenecking of unit operations and related equipment including identifying the problem source. Evaluate alternatives and suggest solutions and improvements. Maintain regular daily communication with operations personnel and assist in commissioning new equipment and other unit/control modifications.
- Review unit-operating data, conduct daily unit routine checks, visual inspection and report abnormalities. Coordinate modification implementation. Reviewing design packages for operability, functionality and safety.
- Assist your colleagues in equipment repairs. Review notifications with engineering input and plan and coordinate all activities prior to, during and after unit shutdowns.
- Provide the required technical support to the plants as per SOP and OMS procedures to produce products at high quality level and as per the production plan and targets.
- Responsible for the Management of Change (MOC) process for the unit.
- Execute on short-term operational safety actions initiated from HAZOP`s, safety events and incidents.
- Participate in Accident / Incident Investigation Committees as required and recommend corrective actions, participate in conducting PSSR as team leader.
- Ensure full compliance to SHEM Systems, Practices and Procedures.
- Maintain statistical process control (or similar methods) monitoring of all major equipment and recommend proper maintenance and operation.
- Participate in different task forces that involve more than one department to improve quality performance.
- Work closely with (cross-) plant stakeholders on different levels by troubleshooting operating problems and suggest operating techniques and/or plant changes as appropriate to achieve short and long-term goals. Work in conjunction with engineering colleagues to optimize the plant performance.
What Matters to SABIC:
- A BSc degree level, preferable in mechanical engineering.
- You have 1-5 Years working experience in technical field.
- You are a dynamic, flexible and enthusiastic personality, who has proven to have thorough understanding of unit operations, process equipment and technology. We will support you to learn all the ins and outs of the plant. You will be part of a close team of colleagues, who will help you in your development.
- You have the ability to listen generously and practice open advocacy. You are able to provide people the information to perform their assigned roles by spoken word. You can provide people with the written information necessary to do their job correctly and are able to make relevant information known in a responsive and effective way.
- You know how to evaluate a particular situation or scenario and quantify the probability and consequence of an undesirable event.
- Fluent in English and Dutch.
