Day Technician, Analytical (BOZ)

The Analytical Technology team (>30 FTEs) is part of the SABIC Corporate Technology and Innovation (T&I) organization and provides analytical characterization expertise to support T&I programs across Strategic Business Units such as PETCHEM and SPECIALITY. The chemical characterization laboratories are well equipped with an extensive array of modern analytical techniques in the area of advanced chromatography, spectroscopy, elemental analysis, morphology/microscopy.

We are currently looking for a motivated candidate with a technical, science-oriented degree, in Bergen op Zoom (The Netherlands) to work on NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) Spectroscopy state-of-the-art techniques in collaboration with other Analytical scientists and Product Developers as part of a Global team. This is a remarkable opportunity to work with the latest in characterization equipment for polymer analysis.

 

Job Purpose & Responsibilities

In this role, you are supporting innovations by unraveling fundamentals of polymers and processes. The role of NMR specialist is crucial for the development of new materials for an increasingly large application range. Your research mindset, strong planning skills and attention to detail enable you to tackle our analytical challenges.

 

The technician position described here will support product development projects and internal analytical developments.  Your experience and growth in the position will enable you to become a true specialist in this area. Working together with other NMR experts in the European and Global team, you will:

  • Handle and perform a variety of analyses requests for research and development projects
  • Develop and transfer new measurement methods and protocols, often with assistance from specialized team members
  • Perform directed research as well as contribute to maintenance and improvement of the relevant equipment
  • Efficiently organize, prioritize and handle multiple project simultaneously
  • Contribute to and further promote a high culture of safety in the laboratory and on site
  • To be successful in this role you should develop a good understanding of what is going on in the different teams within both R&D and Manufacturing. Also you make sure you are up to date with the latest developments in your area of expertise and develop further methods, analyses and protocols to support projects in the best possible way.

Your profile

  • You have a University (BSc.) degree / HBO education in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or similar
  • Knowledge of and experience with NMR spectroscopy
  • Proven affinity for analyses and measurements, including reliability
  • Strong organizing and decision making skills
  • Pragmatic with an analytical view
  • Excellent communication skills in English – verbal and written
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Flexible, creative and independent – capable of shifting priorities as needed
  • Knowledge of polymers is a plus
