Assistant Plant Controller

Department

The business unit of Corporate Manufacturing Bergen op Zoom & Genk is the heart of the production sites in NL-west and Belgium. In this position, you report to the Site Controller in Bergen op Zoom. Together with the Site Controller, you form the Site Control team of the sites in Bergen op Zoom and Genk. This role offers the possibility to grow into the role of member of the MT in Genk. 

 
Job purpose & Responsibilities 

As Assistant Plant Controller, you partner with the manufacturing leader, plant managers or team. You monitor manufacturing performance, support value-drivers and related projects to optimize manufacturing performance. Besides, the manufacturing performance you are tasked with the financial budgeting and planning for the manufacturing site. 

Furthermore, you are responsible for:
•    Supporting the annual budget cycle and analyzing monthly results. 
•    Preparing operational KPI reporting, loss accounting reports and suggesting potential improvements with regard to Opex. 
•    Analyzing manufacturing plant performances to understand variance drivers (volume, inflation, productivity) against budget and identify potential risks.  
•    Establishing a good working relationship with different stakeholders to support value-drivers, hoc analytics and also can explain variances between actual costs and budget.
•    Acting as a business partner for plant management team as well as budget holders of site service departments. You will work closely with the Maintenance & TA controller and Site Accounting & Reporting Team.  
•    Support reporting of other site users following the Service Level Agreements
•    Prepare information for benchmark studies
•    Proactively and continuously finding opportunities to make the processes more efficient and effective


Requirements
•    Bachelor degree in Controlling, Finance & Accounting or equivalent
•    Minimal 1-3 years’ work experience
•    Good understanding of IFRS
•    Knowledge of ERP system (preferably SAP). 
•    Affinity with IT-systems (Business Objects / Celonis / COGNOS)
•    Familiar with MS office in particular good knowledge of MS Excel.
•    Strong analytical skills - ability to understand complexity of cost structures and production performance management  
•    Strong critical thinking skills and ability to add-value to the manufacturing organization
•    Good communication and interpersonal skills to be able to connect with other teams/functions
•    Cost improvement mindset: always looking for ideas to drive down operating cost and improve performance
•    Fluent in Dutch and English, both verbal and written.
•    This role is based in Bergen op Zoom and will require regular travel to the site Genk. Pending COVID-19 measures working from home.
