LOCATION (CITY/COUNTRY): Beijing (Preferred)/Shanghai




Develop and Deliver growth opportunities for SABIC. Excel in actively studies on market, industries, competitions and being strategic and swift to develop options including identification, conceptualization, scope, product slates and value/financial analysis. Pursue project gating process with a team and being able to chair negotiations and executions in the areas of portfolio optimization, asset optimization, vertical integration, technology licensing (in and out), M&A, EPC projects & knowledge management.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead to surface, define, evaluate and develop opportunities incl. M&A for profitable business growth beyond existing offerings (e.g. feedstock, product slates, capacity, high-level material balance, technology/licensors, market, CAPEX estimation)
  • Participate and proactively contribute to SBU strategic planning sessions to determine opportunity spaces
  • Lead to analyze and map attractive market spaces to determine potential areas of synergy with the SABIC 2025 strategy, regional strategy and SBU strategies
  • Lead on project management/execution of active & potential projects, leading an internal team to work through the business development tollgate process and follow up activities in Due Diligence and deals
  • Lead to provide leadership & expertise in critical portfolio, operations, industry knowledge particularly coal to chemical value chain/technologies and competitive intelligence
  • Co-Manage internal and external relationships and support regional leader, North Asia, M&A, investment banks, private equity companies and industry organizations to drive origination, study, and option development to capture the opportunities
  • Assertive communication skills; confidently to make clear and impactful presentations

Verbal and written translation, especially on the petrochemical and technical contexts



  • Degree in petrochemicals from leading universities, and MBA or higher degree required
  • Need to have solid experience & knowledge in whole value chain of integrated steam cracker (from feedstock to downstream derivatives); Refinery experience as a plus
  • Relevant good knowledge in syngas to chemicals and other parts of petrochemical industry
  • Reasonable good knowledge in project economics
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive commercial, technical and operation experience (sales, marketing, technology, manufacturing, EPC/project management experience and business development); Technology licensing experience is a plus
  • Minimum 10 years of direct experience from refining and cracker industry
  • Demonstrated leadership driving change and mobilizing resources in a global environment
  • Demonstrated business acumen, being strategic, and hunter mindset
  • Analytical skills to modeling and effectively communicate outcomes, scenarios and options
  • Ability to interface and influence SABIC leadership and cross SBUs
  • Strong project management and negotiations skills (JV experience is plus)
  • Ability to independently & proactive deliver in a complex internal & external environment
  • Strong and effective leadership in people management
  • Good relationship management expertise to deal with MNC, SOE, industry parks, vendors, partners and government agencies
  • Fluent Mandarin and English, both verbal and in written
