JOB PURPOSE

The Data team within Global Application Technology (GApT) supports Specialty business in digital transformation projects across divergent functions. We are seeking a Lead Data Scientist who can deliver value by solving priority business problems leveraging state-of-the-art in data science and other digital capabilities. The ideal candidate will play an integral role in advancing data-driven decision initiatives and contributing to the success of material informatics and customer experience programs at SABIC Specialties R&D. An ideal candidate would be able to demonstrate the right mix of technical and program management skils and experience required to lead/drive our decision sciences roadmap and contribute to improving the digital maturity of the SBU. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the decision sciences roadmap with three pillars that include: (a) establishing the right platforms and practices for collaborative data science efforts to thrive; (b) developing and leading key strategic initiatives in consultation with key stakeholders; (c) discovering and supporting proof-of-concepts to help the larger organization realize value quickly.                                     
• Scope and lead key strategic projects / initiatives assigned            
• Monitoring and thought leadership on projects initiated within the team including mentoring of junior members responsible for execution of other projects                                         
• Continuous improvement on understanding of the business (products, processes, etc.) and taking part in site-level initiates related to EHS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Master’s, or PhD Degree in Engineering or Statistics with 7+ years of experience. Majority of this should be in executing on data science / AI projects
• Strong technical knowledge and experience with SQL and Python and programming in general
• Strong technical knowledge machine learning and deep learning tools (pytorch, keras, scikit-learn, etc.)
• Strong technical knowledge and experience working with tabular data, time-series data, and text data in various functional areas
• Ability to work on all stages of data sciences / analytics projects (data engineering, model development, model deployment, dashboarding, etc.)
• Experience in leading projects including communication with key stakeholder management to ensure solutions to business get deployed and used
• Experience in polymers or chemicals or similar industries would be a plus                      
• Fully comprehends the application and implications of data pedigree, suitability of data for different analysis tools. application of advanced methods for data classification, imputation, modeling and prediction
• Strategic thinking and planning, including routinely assessing novel technologies and platform capabilities relevant to the business
• Adaptability to changing requirements, effective collaboration in a global team environment, strong delivery focus
• Ability to effectively balance work priorities and work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Implementing best-practices for project management and knowledge management for data science projects in-line with existing organizational guidelines
• Ability to foster and drive culture for innovation and support change initiatives for digital programs to be successful
