Senior Manager, Global Procurement - Flame Retardants & Impact Modifiers
Job Summary
The Sr. Manager leads the development of new global sourcing strategies to enhance profitability and growth, ensures a smooth supply chain and addresses supply chain challenges promptly. He/She challenges the status quo and leads change management across SBUs to improve business practices. Part of this role is to analyze emerging markets, support initiatives, and incorporate ESG principles into global business. Last but not least, he/she ensures compliance with global standards and ensures vendor approvals in line with SABIC’s long-term growth strategy.
How You Can Be the Impact
- Strategic Category Management:
- Define and align global category strategies to support profitability and growth.
- Manage global category plans, strategies, and budgets.
- Provide inputs into the overall Global Procurement Strategy.
- Policies and Procedures:
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures related to Global Procurement and Shared Services.
- Oversee adherence to policies and procedures related to category management.
- Category and Vendor Management:
- Development and implement effective sourcing strategies to create cost savings and ensure surety of supply.
- Conduct contract negotiations, RFQs, bid evaluations base on Total Cost of Ownership.
- Manage vendor relationships, conduct performance reviews, and drive supplier innovation.
- Department Management:
- Direct daily operations, encourage teamwork, and align work processes to achieve high performance.
- Manage departmental budget expenses withing established limits.
- People Management:
- Lead, develop and coach procurement staff across global locations.
- Conduct appraisals, create development plans, and drive recruitment and performance management.
- Stakeholder and Network Management:
- Manage relationships with internal and external business partners.
- Report category results to Global Procurement Management and other stakeholders
- Ensure smooth integration of new business/project direct materials demand.
- Continuous Improvement and ESG:
- Optimize cost positions, monitor market trends, and take proactive actions.
- Support ESG plan implementation and track KPI performance for assigned activities.
What Matters to SABIC
- Educational background: University degree (Master/BS) in Engineering or Chemistry; MBA preferred.
- Experience:
- 10 years’ experience in petrochemicals or an industrial environment.
- 10 years of management experience.
- 5 years managing a similar function in a petrochemicals or industrial organization.
- Leadership and Strategic skills:
- Visionary leader with the ability to develop and execute global procurement strategies.
- Ability to deliver independently and proactively in complex environments.
- Strong communication skills across multi-national and cross-functional teams.
- Technical and Business Knowledge:
- Knowledge of SABIC products; specific content experience within any SBU is a plus.
- Familiarity with policies, procedures, systems and best practices in Supply Management and supplier qualifications.
- Interpersonal and Management Skills:
- Good people management and interpersonal skills, especially in managing global virtual teams.
- Ability to build and lead teams, foster business relationships, and influence all organizational levels.
- Analytical and Conceptual Skills:
- Excellent quantitative, analytical, and conceptual skills.
- Strong cultural awareness and fluency in English and a second language a plus
